The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled maintenance exercise on the 40MVA 132/33kV Transformer (TR1) at its Akwanga 132/33kV Transmission Substation, a development that will temporarily disrupt electricity supply to parts of Nasarawa State.
According to a statement issued by the management of TCN on Friday, the maintenance commenced at 10:00 a.m. on August 7 and is expected to be completed by 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
The company explained that during the maintenance period, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to off-take bulk electricity from the affected transformer for distribution to customers in Akwanga, Nasarawa and surrounding communities, including the Water Board and nearby areas.
TCN said the planned maintenance is aimed at improving the reliability of the national transmission network and enhancing bulk power supply to electricity consumers in the affected areas.
The company apologised for the temporary inconvenience the exercise may cause and appealed to customers for understanding and patience while the essential maintenance work is being carried out.
TCN assured that normal electricity supply would be restored immediately after the successful completion of the maintenance exercise.
