The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG) has said the commendation by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s handling of the Oyo school abduction rescue reflected growing national support for the administration’s renewed war against terrorism.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Emeka Nwankpa, and Secretary, Dapo Okubanjo, the group said the successful rescue of the abducted schoolchildren and their teachers, as well as the swift prosecution of the suspects, demonstrated the effectiveness of the Tinubu administration’s security strategy, anchored on improved intelligence gathering and enhanced inter-agency collaboration.
According to TMSG, President Tinubu’s refusal to accede to the terrorists’ demand for the release of their detained leaders in exchange for the abducted pupils and their teachers underscored his administration’s firm stance against terrorism.
The group noted that Oba Rashidi Ladoja, who led Oyo State traditional rulers on a courtesy and appreciation visit to the President, praised the Federal Government’s response to the abduction and described improved coordination among security agencies as a major turning point in Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts.
TMSG said the monarch’s remarks reflected the views of many Nigerians across regional and religious divides, who have expressed renewed confidence in the government’s efforts to tackle insecurity.
“For us, Oba Ladoja’s remarks are indicative of the overwhelming opinions of many Nigerians, irrespective of region or religion, on the feat, with a clamour for its replication across the country.
“For once, and in a very long time, many Nigerians voiced their minds on media platforms, expressing relief and confidence that insecurity is being aggressively tamed and that the nation is on its way to lasting peace,” the group stated.
TMSG also highlighted what it described as the unprecedented speed with which terrorism suspects, including alleged Ansaru commanders, are being arraigned and prosecuted.
It noted that several suspects had pleaded guilty in court, with judgments delivered promptly, describing the development as a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to justice and the rule of law.
“On this score, we invite the world to see how the Bola Tinubu administration is fighting crime and criminality as the leader of the Nigerian nation where the rule of law is supreme and sacrosanct,” the statement added.
The group urged the Federal Government to sustain its current counterterrorism strategy, saying it has continued to attract positive attention both locally and internationally.
TMSG also referred to what it described as a recent commendation from U.S. President Donald Trump, who reportedly acknowledged President Tinubu’s efforts in combating terrorism and improving security in Nigeria and the West African sub-region.
According to the group, the international recognition further validated the administration’s security reforms since President Tinubu assumed office in May 2023 and reinforces the need to sustain the momentum in the fight against terrorism across the country.
