The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has strengthened its partnership with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Katsina State Command, to combat vandalism of electricity transmission facilities and tackle the growing challenge of Right-of-Way (RoW) encroachment.
The renewed collaboration was reaffirmed during a courtesy visit by the TCN Katsina Sub-Region delegation, led by the Assistant General Manager, Transmission, Engr. Usman S. Idris, to the NSCDC Katsina State Command on July 6, 2026.
During the visit, Engr. Idris commended the Command for its prompt response to previous security concerns and highlighted recent incidents affecting transmission infrastructure within the sub-region.
He disclosed that TCN recently discovered vandalism on Towers T-219 and T-228 along the Katsina–Daura 132kV transmission line during a routine patrol, describing the attacks as a major threat to the integrity of the national transmission network and the stability of electricity supply.
According to him, sustained collaboration between TCN and security agencies is essential to safeguard critical national infrastructure from sabotage and ensure uninterrupted power transmission.
In his response, the Katsina State Commandant of the NSCDC, Abbas Dan-Ile Moriki, said investigations into the reported vandalism had already commenced.
He assured TCN of the Command’s unwavering support and pledged closer coordination to tackle vandalism and Right-of-Way encroachment through proactive security measures.
Both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening information sharing and collaboration to protect Nigeria’s electricity transmission infrastructure and enhance reliable power supply.
