President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended Nigeria’s security forces for the successful rescue of dozens of abducted citizens in Kwara and Niger states, describing the operation as evidence of intensified nationwide security efforts.
In a statement on Monday, the President announced that all 38 worshippers kidnapped in Eruku, Kwara State, have been freed, while 51 students earlier declared missing from a Catholic school in Niger State have also been recovered.
Tinubu noted that he cancelled his scheduled trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa to personally oversee national security coordination. He said he has been receiving continuous briefings from frontline commanders and monitoring the situation across the country.
“Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people,” he said.
The President assured citizens that security agencies will maintain the current momentum until every remaining abducted person is rescued and communities across Nigeria are safe.
