The Nigeria Police Force has commenced the sitting of the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) at its Headquarters in Abuja to review pending disciplinary cases involving 167 senior officers accused of various breaches of professional conduct and related offences.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the exercise is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen internal accountability, enforce discipline, and uphold professional standards within the Force.
The FDC is an internal disciplinary mechanism responsible for reviewing cases involving officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and above. It is tasked with ensuring a thorough, transparent, and fair examination of allegations in line with extant laws and regulations, with recommendations forwarded to the Police Service Commission for further action.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to discipline, integrity, and professionalism, stressed that no officer found culpable of misconduct would be shielded from due process.
He added that the ongoing proceedings form part of broader institutional reforms aimed at strengthening internal control systems, promoting ethical conduct, and restoring public confidence in the Force.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its resolve to uphold the highest standards of accountability and service delivery, ensuring that all officers operate strictly within the core values of the profession.
