The Group Managing Director, Access Bank Nigeria Plc, Dr Hebert Wigwe,has commended the Management of National Youth Service Corps for introducing Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme for Corps Members.
Dr Hebert Wigwe, gave this remark today in Gombe, during the official handover of NYSC North-East Zonal Skill Acquisition Centre.
The multi-million naira edifice, which was solely constructed and donated by Access Bank has facilities for training Corps Members in automobile, carpentry, tailoring, hairdressing, metal/mechanical workshop, catering, GSM repair, barbing salon, ICT among others.
In his address during the ceremony, Dr Wigwe urged the private sector to support the NYSC Scheme in its quest to reduce unemployment among the youths.
He said Access Bank believes in youth empowerment and would therefore improve the facilities at the centre.
the Director, Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, Mr Nuhu Kwaghe, in his remarks at the ceremony, said the intervention of NYSC Scheme in youth empowerment has attracted lots of development partners to the Scheme.
He added that Access Bank’s kind gesture was another milestone in the entrepreneurship drive of the Director-General.
The Director-General, Brigadier General Suleiman Kazaure also said the training centre will bridge skills gap and provide residential training at no cost to interested Corps Members.
He commended the management of Access Bank Plc for its determination to contribute towards your empowerment.
General Kazaure also appealed to other stakeholders to emulate Access Bank towards assisting in the construction and completion of the remaining regional SAED centres across the country.
“The biggest challenge to the vision of skill acquisition and youth empowerment has been lack of facility for post-camp skill training. I appeal to Corps Members to take full advantage of this facility and equip themselves for their future prosperity”, the Director-General said.
