A political pressure group, the Tinubu Stakeholders Forum (TSF), has dismissed allegations linking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the internal crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC), urging the party’s leaders to take responsibility for what it described as self-inflicted problems.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Ahmad Sajoh, and Secretary, Danjuma Sada, the group accused some opposition figures, including allies of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, of attempting to deflect blame over the turmoil within the party.
TSF said the allegations against the President and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were baseless and a deliberate ploy to divert attention from the ADC leadership’s failure to conduct proper due diligence before adopting the party as a political platform.
According to the group, the crisis stemmed from a “disorderly and procedurally defective takeover process” by certain opposition elements seeking to control the party’s structure.
“The root of the problem is a clear disregard for due process, internal democracy, and the basic principles of party governance,” the statement said.
TSF further argued that the situation reflects a broader pattern in Nigerian politics, where desperation, personal ambition, and weak strategic planning often undermine party stability.
It noted that many of those now complaining were previously involved in similar practices that contributed to the decline of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), warning that history appears to be repeating itself within the ADC.
The group stressed that political parties must be built on discipline, structure, and respect for rules, cautioning that failure in these areas inevitably leads to collapse.
“Blaming external forces for self-inflicted wounds only deepens public distrust and diminishes the credibility of the opposition,” TSF stated.
It added that Nigeria’s democratic institutions should not be used as scapegoats for poor political management, urging ADC leaders to embrace accountability rather than resort to excuses.
TSF also called on political actors across party lines to move beyond power struggles and focus on strengthening internal democracy, building credible structures, and offering policy-driven alternatives to Nigerians.
