President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visionary leadership during the commissioning of the newly built International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja, now renamed the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre.
Speaking at the historic event on Wednesday, Senator Akpabio, who accompanied the President to the ceremony, described the project as a testament to intergovernmental collaboration and a symbolic step toward Nigeria’s transformation.
In his remarks, Akpabio lauded the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for honouring the three arms of government by naming various halls in the centre after President Tinubu, himself as President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun.
“What my brother has done implies that the trinity the Executive, Legislature, and the Judiciary are working together for the total transformation of Nigeria under President Tinubu,” Akpabio stated.
He further praised the administration for its commitment to national development and commended the harmony between the National Assembly and the Executive arm.
“The Nigerian Parliament is very proud of Mr. President. We are proud of the fact that we do the budgeting, we give the approvals, and you execute it. You have put on your thinking cap and are determined to leave Nigeria better than you met it. It starts from here,” he said.
Reinforcing his optimism, Akpabio concluded, “A journey of a million miles begins with a single step and this is the step we are taking here today.”
The newly commissioned conference centre is set to become a major venue for national and international gatherings, further boosting Nigeria’s image as a destination for diplomacy, dialogue, and development.
