The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has shattered its previous revenue record by collecting ₦304 billion in October 2025 the highest monthly revenue ever generated by any customs command in the history of the Service.
Confirming the record performance in a statement on Monday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Customs JT Ayagbalo, said the October 2025 figure surpassed the ₦264 billion recorded in the same month last year, bringing the command’s total collection for the first ten months of 2025 to ₦2.4 trillion (₦2,402,141,493,747.06).
With two months still left in the year, the command has already surpassed its entire 2024 revenue performance, setting a new benchmark for customs operations in Nigeria.
Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, attributed the milestone to the dedication of officers and the cooperation of port stakeholders, describing it as “the beginning of greater revenue exploits” under his leadership.
According to him, the command’s readiness to handle increased trade volume through technology-driven processes is central to the success story.
“This latest revenue feat is an initial proof of our readiness to process higher trade volumes that will translate to greater revenue for government,” Comptroller Oshoba said.
He disclosed that officers have been sensitized for the forthcoming Drive-Through Scanning regime, which will process an average of 150 containers per hour from the quayside a development he described as revolutionary for trade facilitation in West Africa.
Oshoba also revealed that the command recently conducted an in-house training for newly promoted Deputy and Assistant Comptrollers, in line with the directives of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.
“While we deploy all trade facilitation tools as directed by the CGC, including the One-Stop-Shop (OSS) which harmonizes customs procedures to save time and promote efficiency, we are equally preventing revenue leakages.
“We maintain a zero-compromise stance in applying Demand Notices (DN) for recovery of shortfalls and ensure vigilance against misapplication of HS Codes for duty evasion,” he stated.
The CAC noted that he has personally embarked on unannounced visits to port access roads to engage truckers, freight forwarders, and licensed agents, urging them to cooperate with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) for efficient cargo evacuation.
He further emphasized collaboration with the Apapa Port Manager, noted that quick cargo exit is vital to sustaining both trade facilitation and revenue growth.
“If cleared consignments fail to exit, new ones coming for examination or scanning will be delayed, and this directly affects revenue and trade efficiency. We need everyone’s support to consolidate these gains,” Oshoba added.
The Apapa Command’s latest performance reaffirms its status as the premier revenue-collecting formation of the Nigeria Customs Service.
