Osun 2026: Why We Should Be Worried! By Olutola Arogundade

Osun State is at a crossroads, and frankly, the future looks terrifying. As we approach the August 15, 2026, election, it’s time we stop the political politeness and face the ugly truth: our state is struggling to breathe. Look around you from the streets of Osogbo to the outskirts of Iwo and the villages in Ife; the signs of decay aren’t just visible, they are screaming. Infrastructure is crumbling, our farms – once the pride of the West – are neglected, and our people are losing hope faster than the…

In defence of Daniel Bwala By Festus Adedayo

“I walked into the Governor’s Lodge, my feet languid and heart trembling. When you walk into that hallowed premises, you are not sure of your fate. On this particular day, even inanimate objects at the Lodge knew that the earth and heavens were in a warring mood. There was an unusual calm. The rats of the Lodge had lost their squeaks and the sparrows which occasionally flew over the Government House, stood still, as if in somnolence. Even the surrounding privileged trees, honoured to be grown in the power house,…

US/Israel-Iran War: Let The Muslim Ummah Come To Their Senses! By Imam Murtadha Gusau

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful   Praise be to Allah, who has honoured the Muslim believers with servitude to Him alone and submission to Him, and has bound their hearts with the bond of allegiance to Him, and has made it obligatory upon them to show mercy to each other and to support one another for His sake. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muḥammad is His servant and Messenger, who…

Go Cashless : Kuku’s Magic Wand at FAAN, BY ABUBAKAR YUSUF

For Mrs Olubunmi Oluwaseun Kuku, the Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer, Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, the mandate of implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda RHA programs at the Authority remained unshakable, particularly the ongoing reforms to stabilize the nation’s aviation industry.   Having prioritised the welfare of workers , the urgent need of carrying the wholistic transformation agenda of her administration in line with the demands of the present administration is unwavering in the last two years.   With constant training and retraining of staffers of the Authority that…

Adewole: The physician as diplomat By abiodun KOMOLAFE

Professor Isaac Folorunso Adewole is a Renaissance man who has, in today’s parlance, multitasked all his life. He is not just an accomplished figure; he is a consummate professional who has straddled diverse roles with international acclaim, always anchored by the highest ethical standards.   It is a staggering testament to the era’s dysfunction that a delusional Chief of Staff once stripped procurement powers from the Federal Ministry of Health under Adewole’s watch and subsumed them under the Ministry of Agriculture. This administrative heist is quite possibly without precedence in…

Adeleke, Ede and the limits of Edenisation By abiodun KOMOLAFE

The Federal Government’s veto of the proposal to relocate the Osun State Cargo Airport from Ido-Osun to Ede marks a defining moment in our history. Beyond its strategic necessity as an economic cornerstone, Ido-Osun is a storied landmark. It serves as Nigeria’s first airstrip and warrants consideration for UNESCO recognition. To relocate it would, therefore, be a self-inflicted wound to our national heritage.   While a cargo airport and eventual passenger hub remain non-negotiable for Osun’s industrial evolution, the current push speaks to a singular obsession with Governor Ademola Adeleke’s…

Osun Guber: Why the dance is ending for Governor Adeleke By Adeyemi Oguntade

The music in the Government House is still playing, but the people in the town hall are starting to walk out. For three years, we watched the dance and enjoyed the show, but as August 15, 2026, approaches, the rhythm in Osun is changing. It’s no longer about the “vibe” – it’s about the vacancy in our pockets and the chaos in our local councils. The ‘Imole’ slogans are still ringing in Osogbo, but out here in the streets of Ikirun and Iwo, a cold sobriety is setting in. The…

Double Standards in Nigerian Politics? The Controversy Over Senator Abaribe’s Defection. By Amb. Anderson Osiebe.

Nigeria’s political landscape has once again been stirred by controversy following the criticism trailing the recent defection of Enyinnaya Abaribe to another political party outside the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The backlash has raised fundamental questions about political tolerance, democratic fairness, and the apparent double standards in the reactions of the ruling party when lawmakers switch political allegiances. For years, Nigeria’s political arena has witnessed a steady flow of opposition lawmakers defecting to the APC. In many cases, these defections were celebrated by the ruling party, welcomed with fanfare,…

Friday Sermon: On Seeking Lailatul-Qadr, Tahajjud And Zakatul/Sadaqatul Fitr By Imam Murtadha Gusau

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful   All praise is due to Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. He has legislated for His servants the upright religion and made it a means for the well-being of both worldly life and faith. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger. May Allah send abundant peace and blessings upon him. To proceed:   Dear brothers…
