The Director-General /CEO of Baynakum family counseling Centre,Ustaz Abdulfattah Adeyemi has admonished marriage counsellors and life coaches to take cognizance of the ethics of marital counselling and to adhere to professionalism while handling both premarital and marital issues.
Adeyemi stated this at the graduation ceremony organized by the center after successfully training some members of Sisters Halaqa foundation in marriage counselling and life coaching. He urged the graduating students to make Baynakum family counseling Centre and the Ummah at large proud.
While responding to questions from journalists, the Training Coordinator, Olayode Abdurasaq remarked that
that the graduating students are equal to the task ahead after obtaining necessary skills as trained counselors. The graduaants also performed excellently in the assessment test conducted by the centre.
One of the instructors, Hajia Aishat Adaviruku who spoke about the graduands emotional intelligence said, there ability to grasp the topics taught shown how prepared they were prior to the training.
A graduating student, Dr Hajara Yusuf who is also the Ameerah of sisters Halaqa foundation commended Baynakum family counseling centre for training them to become marriage counsellors and life coaches.
She said Sisters Halaqa foundation started marital counselling some years ago and members felt there was a need to become certified as marriage counsellors and life coaches. This necessitated consulting Baynakum counselling centre to have the requisite formal training. This is in a bid to serve the Muslims Ummah per excellence.
“Sisters Halaqa foundation was established thirteen years ago by Muslim women of like minds. “Although we started as a group of friends with the sole aim of tackling societal ills, we have ventured into other activities, including premarital counseling and poverty alleviation programs”.
“We officially started marriage counselling about three years ago but we did not have formal certification for same. With this training however, we are now certified marriage counsellors and life coaches. ”
“Other programs we carry out include, Ramadan feeding, visitation to hospitals to donate provisions to poor ill persons and carrying out medical outreach services to rural and poor communities ”.Hajara Yusuf said.
Hajara added that the training was an eye opener as members are now better equipped to organise marriage counselling seminars, in house capacity building seminars and also train Muslim women to become marriage counsellors and life coaches.
Another trainee, Dr jubril Bilqisu Idris enjoined Muslim women to acquire more knowledge in all relevant fields of human endeavor. She urged marriage counsellors and life coaches to ensure they are well equipped in other to properly engage couples and intending couples.
