Member, representing Gaya Albasu/Ajingi Federal Constituency In the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya had on Sunday visited Malamawa village to assess the damages caused by the recent floods in Gaya local government area.
Gaya expressed sadness over the situation,he described the incident as an act of God which nobody can question, added that the flood situation in the village was not only peculiar to Gaya but also many states and country.
Hon Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya trekked around nooks and crannies of the village to assess the houses affected by the flood.
He said farmers affected by the flood would be supported with adequate inputs in other to go back to their farms when the water receded.
Hon. Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya then urged residents of Gaya local government area especially the well to do to be their brothers’ keepers by extending assistance and compassion to the flood victims.
He therefore extended his appreciation to Kano state Governor, Dr Abdullah Ganduje and State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) for prompt dispatchment of its personnel to assess the situation, to enable the state government provide assistance to them.
Hon. Mahmud Gaya further appealed to the Federal Government to send relief materials to the affected area to alleviate the sufferings of the peoples and also asked the Federal Government to find a lasting solution to the perennial flooding in the country and avert possible food crisis.
