The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has awarded over N3.2 million in business grants to five outstanding Corps Members, underscoring its commitment to promoting self-reliance and entrepreneurship among Nigerian youths.
At the grant presentation ceremony held at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, the Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to partner with stakeholders in reducing graduate unemployment. He highlighted that supporting Corps Members’ entrepreneurial aspirations is a key aspect of his five-point policy thrust.
The recipients of the grants, sponsored by the Activate Success International Foundation, were selected through a rigorous and merit-based process. They included:
Enwemeka Blessing (FC/24A/5897) – N750,000
Abdumalik Ibrahim (FC/24A/6157) – N750,000
Akande Olaitan Sunday (FC/24B/3856) – N750,000
Blessing Ijeoma Omachi (FC/24B/5031) – N500,000
Emmanuel Ali (FC/24B/0603) – N500,000
The beneficiaries’ business ideas span sectors such as fashion, food and confectioneries, and horticulture.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Love Idoko Uloko, Founder of Activate Success International Foundation, praised the beneficiaries for their creativity and resilience, noting that the foundation has supported 53 Corps Members through this initiative.
“For over seven years, we have partnered with NYSC to transform the lives of Corps Members, helping them discover their talents, pursue their dreams, and build purposeful futures. Through this programme, we are nurturing self-reliant leaders who will contribute meaningfully to society,” Mrs. Uloko said.
She commended the NYSC Director General and his team for their unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and encouraged the beneficiaries to use the grants effectively.
Brigadier General Ahmed emphasized that initiatives like this represented the NYSC’s dedication to building a generation of entrepreneurial leaders poised to drive national development.
