The Nigerian Army has reinforced its commitment to enhancing operational readiness and combat effectiveness with the commissioning of new training facilities at the 3 Division Training School and Shooting Range, Miango, Plateau State.
The facilities, comprising newly constructed hostel blocks, were inaugurated on Tuesday by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the Army’s training infrastructure in line with national security objectives.
Speaking during the ceremony, Lt. Gen. Shaibu said the new accommodation would significantly improve the quality of training for officers and soldiers by providing a more conducive environment for learning, professional development, and military preparedness.
He stressed that training remains the foundation of the Nigerian Army’s operational effectiveness, noting that a supportive learning environment is essential for producing highly skilled, disciplined, and mission-ready personnel capable of tackling evolving security challenges.
The Army Chief reaffirmed his command philosophy, anchored on the “Soldier First Concept,” emphasizing that investment in personnel welfare and professional development remains central to building a motivated and combat-ready force.
Lt. Gen. Shaibu also commended the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander, Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, for initiating the project and ensuring prudent management of resources.
He described the development as a reflection of the Nigerian Army’s resolve to strengthen its institutional capacity and improve its ability to fulfil its constitutional mandate of safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security.
