Chairman/CEO ,Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM),Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has reiterated the resolve of the Federal Government to ensure the protection of all Nigerians wherever they are.
This is contained in a statement by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head of Media and Public Relations Unit, NIDCOM in Abuja.
Recalling that after advising Nigerians protesting on the streets of Guangzhou, China to report to the mission in Ghuanzhou, rather than roaming the streets, which they eventually did, they were promptly attended to by officials of the Nigerian mission, with the Head of Chancery, Mr Lawan, expressed his displeasure to the Chinese authorities in no uncertain terms .
Series of meetings have been held between Nigerian officials and Chinese officials to resolve the impasse, while the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Geoffrey Onyeama has also met with the Chinese Ambassador in Nigeria on the issue.
While we expect Nigerians to obey laws of other countries, especially in these trying times, we also ask the Chinese authorities not to make their laws discriminatory , as consultations continue between both countries to find an amicable solution to the issues at hand.
