The Ogbomoso Muslim community (OMC)in Ogbomoso ,Oyo state, has announced the suspension of its weekly Friday (Jumu’at) prayers effective from Friday March 27, in a bid to stop the spread of the coronavirus popularly called COVID-19.
The Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland, , Dr. Imam A.Y. Ashafa Sanusi in a release he personally signed and sighted by OgbomosoInfo, noted that the suspension would take effect on Friday, March 27.
He said: “Asalamu llahi alaykum!
This is to informed the general public of Muslims Ummah that the Congregational Friday Prayers in all Mosque of Ogbomosoland & it’s environ tomorrow 27th of March, 2020 is SUSPENDED, due to the ongoing spread of CORONAVIRUS pandemic and because of the directive given by the Oyo State Government.
“May Almighty Allah Protect all the Muslims Ummah both home and abroad, Bijahi Muhammad Rosulullah (s.a.w).
Recall that Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde on monday placed ban on gatherings such as religious services, weddings, parties, burial ceremonies and other activities,Makinde said gatherings should be limited to 30 persons or less. and that nightclubs should remain closed. These measures will be reviewed in two weeks.
