Abba Moro Hails Nwogu’s Rivers Senate By-Election Victory, Credits PDP Resurgence

The Senate Minority Leader and senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Senator Abba Moro, has congratulated the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olaka Nwogu, on his victory in the Rivers South East Senatorial District by-election.

In a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Emmanuel Eche-Ofun John, on Monday, Moro described Nwogu’s triumph as a reflection of the growing popularity and acceptance of the PDP among voters.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Nwogu winner of the Saturday by-election after he secured 47,961 votes, defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, who polled 1,647 votes.

According to Eche-Ofun, the Senate Minority Leader attributed the landslide victory to what he called the renewed strength of the PDP under the leadership of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, whom he described as the party’s national leader.

Moro said Wike’s leadership has helped reposition the PDP and restore its winning momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, assuring party members of his continued commitment to strengthening the party at all levels.

He also congratulated Nwogu on his emergence and warmly welcomed him to the Senate, pledging to provide the necessary guidance and support to ensure a smooth transition into legislative duties.
