The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, has presented cheques from the Niger State Government totaling ₦5 million to families of police officers killed in the line of duty and an inspector currently receiving treatment for gunshot injuries.
CP Elleman made the presentation during a visit to Inspector Emmanuel Onah at the IBB Specialist Hospital, Minna, where the officer is receiving medical attention following injuries sustained during an attack on a police tactical team at Papiri on May 6, 2026.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, two officers Inspector Dennis Sani and Inspector Ibrahim Abdulmalik lost their lives during the attack, while Inspector Onah sustained gunshot injuries in the course of repelling the assailants.
During the visit, the commissioner commended the affected personnel for their gallantry, courage and dedication to duty, noting that their sacrifice reflects the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting lives and property despite prevailing security challenges.
CP Elleman disclosed that the Niger State Government approved the sum of ₦5 million as support for the affected officers and their families. He explained that Inspector Onah received ₦1 million, while ₦2 million each would be forwarded to the families of the two deceased officers.
The police commissioner also assured that other welfare packages and benefits due to the fallen officers from the Nigeria Police Force would be processed without delay.
Elleman appreciated the Niger State Government for the gesture and reaffirmed the command’s determination to sustain efforts at tackling criminality and safeguarding residents across the state.
