The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration over what it described as remarkable progress in the fight against terrorism and violent crimes, citing the elimination of more than 13,000 terrorists and the arrest of 17,000 others within the past year.
In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, the group said the achievements demonstrated the Federal Government’s commitment to tackling insecurity and restoring peace across the country.
According to the group, President Tinubu recently disclosed that terrorism-related deaths in Nigeria have declined by 81 per cent since 2023, attributing the feat to sustained military operations and improved security strategies.
TMV noted that the administration’s investment in equipping the armed forces, boosting troop morale, and strengthening intelligence gathering had significantly enhanced military operations against terrorists and other criminal elements.
The group also highlighted Nigeria’s growing operational capacity through joint military exercises and collaborations with international partners, including the United States, France, and other European countries, describing the development as a major boost to the country’s counter-terrorism efforts.
It further applauded the success of the Federal Government’s deradicalisation initiative, saying more than 124,000 terrorists and their family members had surrendered under Operation Safe Corridor since 2023, based on figures provided by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
According to TMV, the government’s policy of offering repentant terrorists an opportunity to surrender, while maintaining firm military action against those who refuse, has yielded positive results.
The group also praised the Nigerian Army for rescuing 337 kidnapped victims and recovering 4,105 rustled cattle during operations in Benue, Nasarawa, and Taraba States under the Joint Task Force, Operation Whirl Stroke.
TMV attributed the successes recorded across various theatres of operation to the Tinubu administration’s proactive approach to security, enhanced intelligence-driven operations, and effective coordination among security agencies.
The group expressed optimism that sustained support for the military and other security agencies would further degrade terrorist networks and improve security across the country.
