The management of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) company, on Tuesday, received its newly-appointed Chairman, Dr. Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, the National Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at NBET’s headquarters in Abuja.
The reception, attended by the Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Johnson Akinnawo, FCA, along with the Board of Directors and senior management staff of the company, marked Dr. Argungu’s familiarization with NBET’s operations.
Mr. Akinnawo introduced Dr. Argungu to the Board and provided a detailed overview of NBET’s strategic objectives and ongoing initiatives. He highlighted NBET’s crucial role in maintaining a stable and efficient electricity trading framework for Nigeria.
In his remarks, Dr. Argungu expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reiterated his commitment to working closely with the Board and management to improve electricity trading and supply. He stressed the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders to align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda and drive sustainable growth and efficiency in the power sector.
Dr. Argungu also highlighted his dedication to advancing policies that foster transparency, sustainability, and innovation in electricity trading, with an emphasis on renewable energy solutions.
Argungu was accompanied by members of his entourage, including Nze Chidi Duru, the APC Deputy National Organizing Secretary; Dr. Suleiman Wambai, the APC Director of Organizing; Tasi’u Muhammed, the APC Director of Election Management; Dr. Niyi Akinsiju, Special Assistant to the National Chairman; Dr. Ugboaja Stanley, Chief of Staff to the Deputy National Organizing Secretary; and staff from the Directorate of Organizing.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment from the Chairman, the Board of Directors, and NBET’s leadership to drive progress and enhance the efficiency of Nigeria’s electricity market.
