Edo-APC Conundrum By Haruspice

A party that wants to retain the presidency shouldn’t be in this early disarray, you do everything possible to manage your contradictions internally, you don’t take your fight to the public with such brazen agility.

A sitting Governor under your party erred politically not governance wise I was told, he was marked for a fall, his Governor colleagues rose up not necessarily in his defence but to broker a truce between him and his aggrieved godfather, they went as far as Lagos, to call on their bigger father -the leader of the party to intervene.

In soaked agbada, the Governors returned to base, deflated for their effort has yielded no result. They felt worthless and useless in a party they hold forth as sitting governors. They returned to Abuja and got a cul de sac treatment, for the president will never dabble in party affairs, he left that for party leaders while he concentrates on governance.

In the days of the PDP, they had an internal crisis management mechanism they called ‘family affair’, they resolve their internal squabbles without making it a public jamboree. And they were a beautiful reference at that- they don’t eat up themselves, they cover each other – a perfect anecdote of ‘Dogs don’t eat dogs’! Juxtapose this to APC’s, they make public their fight , tearing to shreds each other and thus leaving on their heels badly battered image.

It happened in Zamfara, almost happened in Ogun, it cost them Bauchi, Adamawa, Rivers and Bayelsa. So much for a party in the quest of retaining the Aso Rock seat.

Bystandingly musing
