The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has underscored the importance of collaboration and strategic partnerships in driving Africa’s digital transformation and unlocking sustainable economic growth across the continent.
Speaking at the launch of the Digital Transformation Room during the Omniversse Africa 3.0 Summit in Lagos, NITDA’s Director of Stakeholders Management and Partnerships, Dr. Aristotle Onumo, described digital transformation as a critical catalyst for economic development, institutional efficiency, and innovation-driven growth.
Dr. Onumo, who represented NITDA Director General, Kashifu Inuwa, noted that Nigeria possessed the necessary ingredients to lead Africa’s digital future, including a youthful and highly skilled talent pool, a thriving innovation ecosystem, and steadily expanding digital infrastructure.
He, however, stressed that achieving the continent’s digital ambitions would require stronger collaboration among governments, private sector players, academic institutions, startups, and development partners.
According to him, partnerships remain the foundation for building resilient digital economies capable of addressing pressing socio-economic challenges and creating opportunities for inclusive growth.
Delivering a goodwill message on the digital transformation of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Dr. Onumo encouraged stakeholders to leverage technology to enhance productivity, competitiveness, and economic participation across the sector.
He also urged participants to maximise the opportunities presented by the newly inaugurated Digital Transformation Room, describing it as a strategic platform for innovation, collaboration, and the co-creation of technology-driven solutions to real-world challenges facing Africa.
The Omniversse Africa 3.0 Summit brought together policymakers, technology leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, and development partners to explore pathways for accelerating digital transformation and strengthening Africa’s position in the global digital economy.
NITDA reiterated its commitment to fostering partnerships and implementing initiatives that support Nigeria’s digital economy agenda while contributing to the broader digital advancement of the African continent.
