The Registrar-General/CEO Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN, has advised Nigerian university students to ensure that they graduate as entrepreneurs by acquiring the CAC certificate to immediately become entrepreneurs.
Hussaini Ishaq Magaji gave the charge while speaking to newsmen in Lafia Nassarawa State shortly after a meeting with the State Governor, Abdullahi Sule.
Hussaini Magaji said aside from obtaining an academic certificate, a CAC certificate should equally be acquired for greater productivity.
He therefore stressed the need for all graduates to acquire entrepreneurship skills before graduation and have the CAC certificate as their second certificate.
The Registrar-General maintained that the CAC certificate would, upon graduation, offer them the opportunity for immediate access to government interventions and bank loans, among others, to kickstart their businesses.
Speaking on his mission to Nassarawa State, the Registrar-General said the state was strategically located economically with a vibrant community, hence the need to have more access to the Commission’s presence.
In that regard, the CAC boss revealed that Governor Abdullahi Sule has acceded to the commission’s request to situate its office around the Maraba axis of the state bordering the Federal Capital Territory.
Acknowledging CAC’s position as a gateway to the economy, the Nassarawa State Government has allocated land for the Commission to build a befitting office accommodation in Lafia in accordance with the provisions of Section 8 of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, CAMA 2020, he added.
He also spoke on the potential of the Commission’s operations in ensuring the improvement of Nassarawa State Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Earlier, Nassarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule emphasised the need for greater partnerships with the CAC in order to formalise unregistered businesses and productively engage the growing youth population in the state.
Speaking on the efforts of the state government towards promoting entrepreneurship, Governor Sule said retired civil servants were upon exit admitted to the Vocational Study Academy in order to continue to be useful not only to themselves but to grow the economy of the state.
Governor Sule revealed that he had signed over 8,000 certificates of occupancy since his assumption of office in 2019.
He, however, lamented that there was no commensurate benefit for the state, which incurred huge losses from their non-remittances of taxes accrued to the state.
He therefore suggested greater collaboration with the Commission in a bid to reverse the trend that has hampered greater revenue generation.
Governor Sule used the forum to commend President Bola for appointing a young and accomplished senior advocate as Registrar-General of the Commission.
CAC News reports that the RG was accompanied on the visit by Personal Assistant New Media and Public Relations, Dorothy EzeOkonkwo, Protocol Officer to the RG, Sani Idris Lere, Intergovernmental Affairs Officer, Mohammed Habib, and the Zonal Head CAC Nasarawa State Office, Suleiman Mohammed.
