Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to eradicating crime and making the state safer for residents. He assured that his government would collaborate with all security agencies to ensure a peaceful Edo.
Governor Okpebholo made this declaration when he received the new Commissioner of Police, Betty Enekpen Isokpen Otimenyin, at the Government House. He expressed confidence in her ability to lead the fight against crime, citing their long-standing acquaintance and her proven track record in law enforcement.
“We thank the CP for agreeing to work with us. She is a woman with the heart of a man. I have known her since 1994 in Jos, and I promised her that when I become governor, she will be my Commissioner of Police. I trust her capabilities and know she can deliver,” Okpebholo said.
The Governor emphasized that his administration is determined to make Edo a crime-free state, adding that security remains a top priority for his government.
In response, CP Otimenyin commended the Governor for his support, particularly for providing security agencies with operational vehicles to enhance their efforts in fighting crime.
“The reason for my visit is to formally inform Your Excellency that I have resumed duty and I am fully prepared to work towards ensuring a crime-free Edo. We appreciate your administration for equipping us with security vehicles that will aid our operations,” she said.
The meeting signaled a renewed commitment to strengthening security efforts in Edo State, with both the government and law enforcement agencies ready to take decisive action against criminal elements.
