Gov Sani Bello Encourages Citizen Participation In Governance, Says Commissioner

Niger State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mustapha Jibril has disclosed that the success of Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello led administration was as a result of an
all-inclusive and citizens participation administrative policy of the Governor.

Dr. Jibril made the statement on Friday in Bida while on a tour to inspect the renovation work on School of Nursing, Bida, The Nursing school is set for full accreditation in no distance time.

Accompanied the Commissioner during the visit were Permanent Secretary in the ministry, other officials of Niger State Ministry of Health, Member, Bida Forum and relevant stake-holders.. The Commissioner pledged total commitment of Governor Sani Bello’s administration towards the success of the project.

Commissioner said “by the end of this refurbishment, this institution is going to have a multiplier effect on the number of students that will be admitted, as well pave way in increasing it work-force”

He added that “Governor Sani Bello hold equal every person in Niger State irrespective of political affiliation, religion, tribe or Zone which is why to Mr. Governor, all-citizens participation is a paramount mechanism towards transparency, accountability and a vitamin of strengthening democracy”

Dr. Jibril applauded Bida Forum for their constructive participation in the activities of the institution which the Commissioner described as criticism aimed at improving the overall quality of the institution and service rendered.

in his words “Mr. Governor is very impressed with the manner this forum participated in this situation, you have been helpful with constructive suggestions” the Commissioner stressed urging other groups, forums and association to emulate such.

The team were in the School of Nursing to inspect the on going renovation work on the School as well as to clarify some misconceptions raised earlier regarding the standard of the job.

Some of the issues raised by Bida Forum were also clarified by the external consultant and the Commissioner to the satisfaction of Bida Forum members.

Dr Jibril further disclosed that additional 12 tutors have been recruited and also on the last accreditation exercise , preliminary reports suggested that the school has gotten accreditation due to the level of work done for the first time since its establishment which will enable increase in the number of students from the current 50 to 100 possibly 150.

Dr Mustapha Jibril announced that with the efforts of Sani Bello’s administration. the school has been chosen among 6 schools in 36 states including the Federal Capital Territory to pilot the award of Diploma Certificate in Nigeria, and also enlisted on the website of International Nursing and Midwifery Council.
