Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has appealed to Corps Employers in the State to provide enabling environment for all Corps Members so as to utilise their potentials for the development of the State.
He said his administration placed high premium on youth development and empowerment which wear pre-requisites for national growth.
Abdullahi Sule disclosed this today in his address while declaring the 2019 Batch ‘C’ Stream Two Course closed at NYSC Nasarawa State Orientation Camp in Dan Yamusa, Keffi.
Speaking through his Deputy, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, Governor Sule commended the Corps Members for the successful completion of their Orientation Course and also for their patriotism, sense of commitment, resilience, high level of discipline, enthusiasm and dedication towards national integration and cohesion.
He added that the State Government would continue to encourage Corps Members in skills acquisition and other economic empowerment initiatives by creating the needed enabling environment for them to realise their potentials for societal growth.
Speaking further, the Governor urged them to put to practice, the lessons learnt in the course of their Orientation Exercise and also learn the heterogeneous nature of Nasarawa State in terms of religion, ethic groups, culture and natural endowment.
He added that the State was a miniature Nigeria that is endowed with different potentials of socio-economic development.
‘Apply the lessons learnt to develop yourselves, your host communities and the overall development of the state and the nation at large in line with the ideals of the objectives of the NYSC Scheme’.
‘Shun all forms of crimes like drug abuse, theft, fraud and other social vices that can dent your image and also jeopardize your chances of realizing your dreams in future’.
‘I call on all Corps Employers to accept Corps Members posted to their organizations and make full use of their services and also create an enabling environment aimed at achieving maximum productivity’, he said.
Governor Sule advised the Corps Members to establish good relationship with their host communities and identity community projects that would have direct bearing on them.
While speaking to the press at the ceremony, NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim said the Federal Government is always concerned with the welfare and security of Corps Members.
‘Where there are security challenges, we don’t post Corps Members there. We have warned our Corps Members not to travel without permission and also against embarking on night journey. When the minimum wage is implemented by the Federal Government, Corps Members would also benefit’, the DG said.
