The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Tuesday commissioned two newly constructed modern divisional headquarters in Durumi and Galadimawa in the Federal Capital Territory, as part of efforts to strengthen policing infrastructure and improve security.
The commissioning was carried out on the IGP’s behalf by Assistant Inspector General in charge of Zone7,AIG Victor Olaiya, who described the projects as a major step towards enhancing the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force and improving service delivery to residents of the FCT.
Speaking at the ceremonies, AIG Olaiya said the new facilities would provide a conducive working environment for officers while boosting professionalism, operational efficiency, intelligence-led policing, and community engagement. He noted that well-equipped police stations are vital for prompt emergency response and the protection of lives and property.
The AIG commended the Nigeria Police Force Property Development and Construction Company Limited, project developers Odernix Nigeria Limited and Anon Global Properties Nigeria Limited, as well as the Federal Capital Territory Administration, traditional institutions, community leaders, and residents for their support in completing the projects.
He urged officers deployed to the divisions to uphold discipline, professionalism, integrity, respect for human rights, and community-oriented policing, stressing that effective policing is measured by the quality of service delivered to the public rather than the structures themselves.
Olaiya also called on residents to continue partnering with the police by providing credible and timely information to aid crime prevention, emphasizing that security is a shared responsibility.
Reaffirming the vision of the Inspector-General, he said the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to modernising policing infrastructure, improving officers’ welfare, embracing technology-driven policing, and strengthening partnerships to enhance public safety nationwide.
The commissioning ceremonies were attended by senior police officers, government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, representatives of partner organisations, and other dignitaries.
