The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating Father’s Day, paying tribute to fathers across the country for their sacrifices, leadership, and contributions to family stability and national development.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, the IGP described fathers as critical pillars of society whose dedication to raising responsible children and upholding moral values continues to strengthen the nation’s social fabric.
Disu noted that fathers play a pivotal role in instilling discipline, integrity, hard work, patriotism, and other virtues essential for nation-building. He emphasized that their daily sacrifices in providing guidance, protection, and support for their families contribute significantly to the peace, stability, and progress of the country.
The police chief also paid special tribute to officers of the Nigeria Police Force who balance the demanding nature of policing with their responsibilities as fathers and guardians.
According to him, many police personnel make immense sacrifices, often spending long hours away from their families while carrying out their duty of safeguarding lives and property across the nation.
“As the nation marks this year’s Father’s Day, I wish all fathers good health, strength, wisdom, and fulfilment,” the IGP stated, urging Nigerians to appreciate and honour the enduring influence and commitment of fathers in shaping a safer and more prosperous society.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting lives and property, fostering stronger community partnerships, and supporting initiatives that promote family values, social cohesion, and national development.
The IGP concluded by extending warm Father’s Day greetings to fathers across the Federal Republic of Nigeria, acknowledging their invaluable role in building strong families and a stronger nation.
