Dr Ololade Usman Bakare, a leading Oyo State governorship aspirant, has formally joined the race for the 2027 governorship election as he collected the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms on Tuesday.
The Isale-Bode-born cyber security expert from Ward 4, Unit 7, described the move as a decisive step towards delivering purposeful, transparent, and result-oriented governance to the people of Oyo State.
Speaking shortly after obtaining the forms, Dr Bakare expressed profound appreciation to party leaders, critical stakeholders, the Igbega Oyo Volunteers, and his teeming supporters for their unwavering confidence in his vision.
“I am driven by a genuine desire to reposition Oyo State for greater economic growth, improved infrastructure, quality education, and accessible healthcare,” he said.
Bakare pledged to run a people-centred administration anchored on integrity, competence, inclusivity, and accountability if given the mandate. He emphasised his commitment to strengthening institutions, creating sustainable opportunities, and restoring public trust in governance.
The aspirant called on all APC members and supporters to remain united and focused as the party prepares for the primaries, stressing that collective resolve and collaboration will be key to victory in 2027.
He assured residents of Oyo State that his leadership would prioritise developments that directly impact lives and build a more prosperous, secure, and inclusive state for current and future generations.
