The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has donated 50 ballistic helmets, 50 bulletproof vests and 100 raincoats to the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft as part of efforts to strengthen security operations across Lagos State and its maritime domain.
The Executive Secretary of the LSSTF, Dr Ayodele Ogunsan, made the donation on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, when he led a delegation of the Fund on a courtesy visit to the Commander, NNS Beecroft, Commodore A. Adams-Aliu.
Ogunsan said the intervention was part of the Fund’s continued commitment to supporting security agencies in Lagos through targeted assistance designed to improve operational capacity and personnel morale.
He explained that the donated equipment was intended to address identified gaps in the State’s security architecture and enhance the ability of security agencies to protect lives and property, particularly as Lagos approaches a sensitive election period.
The LSSTF Executive Secretary added that other areas requiring intervention, identified during the engagement, would be addressed in due course.
Receiving the delegation, Commodore Adams-Aliu appreciated the LSSTF for its continued support and contribution to strengthening security operations across Lagos State.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to maintaining strong partnerships with government institutions, sister security agencies and other stakeholders in the interest of national security.
The NNS Beecroft Commander stressed that the evolving nature of security threats requires sustained cooperation, effective coordination and timely information sharing among security stakeholders.
According to him, closer collaboration would strengthen the capacity of security agencies to respond effectively to emerging threats, particularly along Lagos waterways and maritime approaches.
The engagement is also consistent with the mission of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, which is to deploy a highly motivated and professional naval force capable of safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime interests and contributing effectively to joint operations in defence of national sovereignty and the maintenance of internal stability.
