The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), has visited two officers of the Agency who are currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja, following injuries sustained during a violent mob attack.
The officers, Ayegh Dooyun Zachariah and Shehu Jamil Ibrahim, were reportedly injured on Friday, 15th May 2026, during a raid on a suspected drug hotspot in the Dawaki area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The officers came under attack from a mob while carrying out the operation.
During his visit on Monday, 25th May 2026, Marwa expressed deep sympathy to the injured personnel and assured them of the Agency’s full backing, particularly in ensuring they receive comprehensive medical care until full recovery.
He also pledged that the perpetrators of the attack would be identified and brought to justice, describing the incident as an assault on the state.
“The Agency will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for this cowardly attack are arrested and brought to justice. An attack on our officers is an attack on the state, and it will not go unpunished,” he said.
Marwa commended the officers for their bravery and professionalism during the high-risk operation, noting that their commitment to the fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse remains highly valued by the nation.
As part of immediate support measures, the NDLEA leadership approved incentives for the injured officers, including formal Letters of Commendation personally signed by the Chairman/CEO, alongside additional welfare and recovery support packages.
He also acknowledged the swift medical response from both the Agency’s medical team and staff of the National Hospital, Abuja, which he said contributed to stabilizing the officers.
Reaffirming the Agency’s resolve, Marwa stated that the NDLEA remains undeterred in its mandate to dismantle drug trafficking networks and sanitize communities across the country despite resistance from criminal elements.
