The Chief Press Secretary to the Niger State Governor, Mrs. Mary Noel Berje has underscored the role of the Media in the conceptualization and actualization of government policies and programmes.
The Chief Press Secretary stated this when she received Executive Members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State Council in Government House, Minna, Mrs. Noel Berje said she would work with all media practitioners in publicizing government activities.
She admonished Journalists in the state to see themselves as critical stakeholders and partners in the renewed effort and strategy to achieve the set goals.
The Chief Press Secretary appealed to Journalists, individually and collectively, to support the Abubakar Sani Bello-led administration especially in the area of positive reportage of the Governor’s activities for the overall growth and development of the state and country.
Mrs. Mary Noel Berje appreciated the state council of NUJ and the National Secretariat of the union for recognizing and celebrating her appointment.
While soliciting support of all stakeholders in the media landscape, the Chief Press Secretary thanked Governor Sani Bello for finding her worthy to be his spokesperson and promised to work tirelessly to justify the confidence reposed in her.
Earlier, the Chairman of the state council of NUJ, Comrade Abdul Idris said they were in the State House to felicitate with Mrs Noel Berje on her recent appointment and to assure her of support and a harmonious working relationship between the council and office of the CPS.
The NUJ Chairman expressed confidence in the ability of the Chief Press Secretary to ensure government enjoys cordial working relationship with the press and urged her to accord and integrate all members of the union covering activities of government.
He enumerated some challenges of the union, including training and retraining, and urged her to facilitate and ensure that the challenges are surmounted.
