MURIC Applauds Court for Granting Bail to El-Rufai

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has commended the Federal High Court in Kaduna for granting bail to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

El-Rufai was granted bail on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, after spending several weeks in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

Reacting to the development, MURIC’s Founder and Executive Director, Ishaq Akintola, described the court’s decision as “long overdue” but ultimately commendable.

“It is long overdue, belated but we welcome Mallam El-Rufai with both arms. It is hoped that he will be allowed to attend to his family this time around. El-Rufai is a household name and a performer. We love him for who he is: a fearless, selfless leader,” Akintola stated.

The group expressed optimism that the former governor would now have the opportunity to reconnect with his family while continuing to address the legal matters before the court.

MURIC reiterated its commitment to dialogue and justice, emphasizing the importance of fairness and due process in the handling of high-profile cases in the country.
