The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has applauded the Nigerian Army for initiating tactical changes in its operations to address the resurgence of attacks in Borno and Plateau States.
This commendation followed public outcries by Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno and Governor Caleb Muftwang of Plateau over the deteriorating security situation in their respective states. MURIC had earlier echoed similar concerns, urging urgent military action to restore peace and protect civilian lives.
In a statement issued on Saturday, April 19, 2025, the Founder and Executive Director of MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola, described the army’s swift response as “a sign of professionalism and responsiveness.”
“Authorities of the Nigerian Army have started making tactical changes in some of its operations to contain the renewed attacks, particularly in Borno and Plateau states,” the statement read. “The changes began after the two governors complained openly about the worsening security conditions in their states.”
According to media reports, top military officers have been redeployed, including the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai in the North East and the Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna, as part of the strategic overhaul.
MURIC praised these moves, saying, “The Nigerian Army deserves encomiums for this swift response. It is symptomatic of professionalism and responsiveness. Our gallant soldiers are giving Nigerian taxpayers the attention they deserve while endangered zones get necessary assurance of protection.”
The organization also called on citizens to support the army’s efforts and encouraged Nigerian youths to consider enlisting in the military to defend the nation.
