The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration through enhanced strategic communication aimed at supporting Nigeria’s national security objectives.
The renewed commitment was reached during a courtesy visit by the newly appointed Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, to the Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, at the Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Abuja, on Tuesday.
The meeting focused on the importance of coordinated communication, information sharing and public engagement as critical tools for strengthening national security and enhancing public confidence in the country’s security institutions.
During the engagement, both senior public affairs officers stressed the need for closer collaboration in communicating the activities and strategic objectives of their respective organisations. They noted that a unified communication approach would reinforce public trust, counter misinformation and promote a coherent national security narrative.
CSP Iniedu highlighted the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing reforms centred on community-led and intelligence-driven policing. He said the initiative is designed to strengthen partnerships with citizens, improve intelligence gathering and encourage proactive policing nationwide.
He also urged members of the Armed Forces and the general public to make use of the Nigeria Police Force Complaint Response Unit as a credible channel for reporting complaints, sharing information and providing feedback to improve police accountability and service delivery.
The FPRO further publicised the unit’s dedicated contact lines—08057000001, 08057000002, 09133333785 and 09133333786—emphasising that timely information and constructive public engagement remain vital to effective policing.
Responding, Air Commodore Ejodame welcomed the initiative and underscored the importance of strategic communication and inter-agency cooperation in tackling contemporary security challenges.
He observed that in an increasingly complex security environment, closer collaboration among security agencies is essential to building public confidence, strengthening national resilience and achieving shared national security goals.
The visit ended with the exchange of goodwill messages to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, and the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, reaffirmed the commitment of both organisations to deepen cooperation in the interest of national security and sustainable national development.
