The Director-General of the News Agency of Nigeria, Malam Ali Muhammad Ali, has commended the National Youth Service Corps for its contributions to national development as the Scheme marks its 53rd anniversary.

Ali praised the role of the NYSC in youth mentorship and empowerment, rural development, healthcare delivery, educational advancement and job creation across the country.
He also applauded both former and serving corps members deployed to NAN for their dedication and invaluable service to the agency, noting that their contributions would remain memorable.
The NAN Director-General further lauded the leadership of the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, describing his stewardship since assuming office as commendable.
Ali made the remarks while receiving the NYSC DG during a courtesy visit to the NAN Headquarters in Abuja.
He stressed the need for developmental journalism capable of driving national progress, adding that NAN remained committed to projecting African stories, particularly those highlighting Nigeria, to the global audience.
Responding, Brigadier General Nafiu appreciated NAN for what he described as objective reportage of the Scheme’s activities over the years.
He expressed confidence that the partnership between both organisations would continue to grow stronger.
The NYSC Director-General also reaffirmed the Scheme’s commitment to consolidating on its achievements through innovative programmes that would further contribute to national development.
