The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Monday Bala Kuryas received the newly elected President, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Com.Umar Faruk Lawal and other executive members on courtesy visit yesterday 6th September, 2022 in Minna,Niger state.
The student leader, in his remarks said that the association identified the Commissioner of Police as students’ friendly individual by his antecedents in attending to students matter, which he exhibited by receiving the association within a short notice without any prior letter.
The association acknowledged that the Police provided ninety-five percent security services during their just concluded convention in Abuja which produced the new executives and wished to establish more relationship with the Police, starting from Niger State Police Command.
It was further reiterated that as an apex body of students’ representation, there was a need for effective partnership between the Police and the students’ body for guidance, cooperation and protection of campuses.
The NANS President also appreciated the effort of the CP Kuryas and the Command in tackling banditry and other criminality in the state and promised to support the Police with more information in addressing crime challenges.
The Commissioner of Police, in his response welcomed the President and his entourage. He emphasized on the need to work together for a peaceful society while he expressed concern about the ASUU strike and rekindled hope in its end soonest.
He admonished the students to concentrate more on their studies in order to graduate with flying colours towards securing a better job.
He equally urged them to utilise available scholarship schemes judiciously and should not abuse such privileges for the sake of others. He advised the association to always adopt dialogue in resolving issues and shun any act of violence.
He appreciated the support of the Government and students in fighting crime in the state.
