Niger Police Deploys Massive Security Ahead of 2026 Eid-el-Kabir, Assures Residents of Peaceful Celebration

The Niger State Police Command has assured residents of adequate security before, during, and after the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, with the deployment of personnel and operational assets across the state.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful across the state, wishing them a peaceful and hitch-free Sallah celebration.

He said the Command, in line with its constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property, has put in place robust security arrangements, including strategic deployments across Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, major highways, motor parks, critical infrastructure, and other vulnerable locations.

According to him, officers drawn from tactical teams, operational units, and divisional formations have been mobilised to ensure visibility policing and prevent any breakdown of law and order during the festive period.

The Commissioner further disclosed that the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, will conduct “Operation Show-of-Force Patrol” across the state. He added that intensified intelligence gathering, stop-and-search operations, confidence-building patrols, and raids of identified black spots will also be sustained throughout the celebration.

CP Elleman urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies, assuring that the police are fully prepared to respond swiftly to any threat or emergency.

He also advised members of the public to celebrate responsibly, avoid reckless driving, report suspicious movements, and refrain from spreading false information capable of causing panic. Parents and guardians were equally urged to monitor their children and wards during the festivities.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents, warning criminal elements to desist from unlawful activities or face the full weight of the law.
