Natasha’s Kogi Central: From Quietude To Activeness, by Abubakar Yusuf

No doubt , it has been a beehive of activities and return of quality representation to Kogi Central after so many decades of the demise of Senator Ahmed Tijani Ahmed of blessed memory, whose representation stood out among many others produced in the current Nigeria’s democratic journey from Kogi Central.

The election and subsequent swearing- in of Senator Natasha Akpoti -Uduaghan also ends the perennial installation of stooges on the coveted Kogi Central Senatorial seat , with the past occupants who had displayed stooge like attitudes, that was testament to non- representation worsened by the last experience of abrupt Senator Abubakar Ohere.

For Kogi Central, the spirit of late Senator A.T. Ahmed kept resonating and reverberating to the glory of Almighty God, and beyond mere constituency projects commissioning, but out-spokeness of Senator Natasha Akpoti- Uduaghan on both Local, State , National and Global issues raised at the red chamber .

From her first day of assumption of the red chamber, which signified light over darkness, people’s choice in a democratic environment over forceful imposition of representation that pervades Kogi Central Senatorial district over the years.

Senator Natasha , a woman of valour had won the heart of the people over the years, who was voted massively in the March senatorial election from Kogi Central, was rigged and her mandate validated by the courts of the land.

Twice she had contested for elective positions and won with the support of her people as SDP Governorship Candidate in 2019, because of her popularity , but singularly owing to her passion and love for the provision of socioeconomic and political development of her people in all ramifications and later the Senatorial seat.

Her quest for social and economic security of her people, Kogi state had endeared her in the minds of an average Kogi indigenes, both home and in the diaspora, before her quest and venture into politics.

With the judicial battle over and her victory at the courts, her resumption signified quality and good representation not only on committees and oversight functions few months into her assumption, but active participation in the plenary on daily, and weekly basis particularly her contributions to national issues and issues on urgent national importance.

True to her struggle for people oriented representation, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has proved her mettle as she had in the short period provided to the people of Kogi Central and the entire nation quality representation

Few months into her assumption of duty, Senator Akpoti who marked her birthday yesterday, December 10th, 2023 was attracted by large commendations for good representation to the good people of Kogi Central.

Natasha who represented light, progress and return of development to Kogi Central, will do more to ensure more advancement to the area.

As you mark additional year on the surface of the earth, may this mark more sacrifices to the people of Kogi state and the country at large.
