The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (National Drug Law Enforcement Agency) has arrested three persons with disability in separate drug trafficking operations across Anambra and Kwara States, while also uncovering a major drug warehouse in Lagos valued at ₦5.815 billion.
One of the suspects, 60-year-old Romanus Nwabara, was arrested on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Akpaka Forest, Onitsha in Anambra State with 250 grams of skunk packaged in retail sachets.
In another operation in Ogbunike, also in Anambra State, operatives arrested 25-year-old Amos Kenneth on Thursday, May 7, 2026, with various illicit substances including Tramadol, Diazepam, Exol-5, and 160.3 grams of skunk.
In Kwara State, a third suspect, Usman Salisu, was intercepted on Friday, May 8, along the Bode Saadu axis while travelling in a commercial vehicle. A search revealed 6.3 kilograms of skunk concealed in a school bag.
In a separate major breakthrough, NDLEA operatives raided a luxury mansion in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State, used as a drug stash house. The operation led to the recovery of 4,000 parcels of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis weighing 2,326 kilograms, with an estimated street value of ₦5.815 billion. Two Mercedes-Benz buses and packaging materials were also seized from the property.
The agency also arrested Emmanuel Osita Okeke in Nasarawa State with 129 kilograms of skunk, while three suspects—Mathew Omohove, Ebuka Desmond, and Babangida Musa—were apprehended along the Okene–Lokoja highway in Kogi State with 766 kilograms of skunk hidden in a commuter bus.
In Lagos, NDLEA operatives raided a skuchies production facility in Ijora Badia, arresting Bose Jamiu and Gbenga Gege, who were allegedly processing cannabis mixed with other substances. Authorities recovered 270 litres of already produced skuchies and quantities of Tramadol.
According to a statement by the Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the officers involved in the operations and urged them to sustain the ongoing War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) nationwide sensitisation and enforcement efforts.
The agency noted that WADA enlightenment campaigns also continued across schools, worship centres, and communities nationwide during the week.
