The Nigeria military, through the Nigerian Navy, has intensified its crackdown on illicit drug trafficking with a successful joint operation conducted alongside the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), leading to the arrest of a suspected drug dealer and the seizure of illicit substances in Warri, Delta State.
The operation, carried out by personnel of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) DELTA and NDLEA operatives, targeted identified drug hotspots across the Urchie, Uvwiamuge, Orthokpor, and Usiefrun areas of Warri as part of ongoing efforts to rid the Navy’s area of operation of criminal activities.
During the coordinated raids, security operatives arrested one suspect and recovered various illicit drugs, including Molly, Cannabis, and Skuruchi, dealing a significant blow to the local drug distribution network.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the operation demonstrates the strong partnership between the Nigerian Navy and the NDLEA in tackling illicit drug trafficking and its links to other forms of criminality that threaten public safety and national security.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration and sustaining intelligence-led operations aimed at denying criminal elements the freedom to engage in activities capable of undermining peace, security, and lawful economic activities within its area of responsibility.
