Niger Govt reiterates support to education sector

Niger State Government has reaffirmed its continued commitment to give the education sector the desired support and assistance.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane disclosed this at the launching of the 2020 Nigeria Education Data Survey (NEDS) organized by the National Population Commission held at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre, Minna.
The SSG who was represented by Yahaya Babawachiko, Permanent Secretary, Economic Affairs, SSG’s Office explained that the Education Data Survey will go a long way in facilitating the full development of education in the State and enjoined stakeholders to key into this laudable initiatives.
Ahmed Matane revealed that the State Government has committed a lot of resources to the sector since the inception of the present administration, added that the sector has witnessed a holistic revolution in the areas of infrastructural development, capacity building among several others.
In her remarks, the Commissioner of Education, Hajiya Hannatu Jibrin Salihu stated that the launching of the 2020 NEDS was timely when the Ministry of Education was strategizing on addressing education in balance in the State.
The Commissioner of Education assured that her Ministry would work assiduously to ensure that the recommendations of the report is pursued vigorously with a view to achieving UBES and Education for all goals to the children of School-age in the Better Education Services Delivery for All (BESDA) project.
Earlier, the Chairman, National Population Commission Commission represented by the State Director of the Commission, Usman Baba expressed optimism that the 2020 NEDS will no doubt increase education data availability and set a trend for planning, monitoring and measuring education indicators in the country.
The NCP Chairman said that the Commission was able to carry out the survey in about 553 communities across all the 25 local government areas of the State.
