Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors was founded in 1969 as an independent professional body responsible for total cost and procurement management, for the achievement of the client’s objectives in all types of capital projects and development.

Governor Sani Bello who noted that the contribution of the Institute to Nation-building can not be overemphasized, said his government will henceforth insist on the stamp seal of a quantity surveyor regarding any construction in the State as that will help in tracing any error in the project.

The Governor said capacity building was key hence he will support the Institute in getting her members trained and retrained.

He said he was motivated towards supporting the Institute more, having heard that the Niger State Chapter of the Institute is the Fifth largest growing Chapter in the country.

The National President Of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors and former Minister of Power and Steel, Alhaji Murtala Aliyu informed Governor Sani-Bello that their visit was to appreciate his numerous support to the Institute at both State and National levels.

Alhaji Aliyu requested for the involvement of a quantity surveyor in the road and other construction projects in the State for mutual benefits as a stamped seal that is linked to a surveyor would be used on the bill of quantity so as to track any fault in the project thereby giving value for money.

A History Book of the Institute on its 50 years of existence was presented to the Governor.
