Tactical Support Team of the Niger state Police Command,in a continued effort to eradicate or reduce crime and criminality in the state, on 13th August,2023 at about 1330hrs, based on information received arrested some miscreants who specialized in robbing victims of handsets and motorcycles in Morris area of Minna,Niger state capital.
The following suspects were arrested;
-Jibrin Ndako (J.boy) 22yrs of Barkin-Sale, Minna
-Moh’d Usman (Smally) 20yrs of Sauka-Kahuta, Minna
-Kure Musa 25yrs of Kpakungu, Minna.
In the course of the investigation, the suspects revealed that they had been engaging in stealing motorcycles and snatching handsets, mostly at night periods within Minna Metropolis such as Barkin-Sale, Kpakungu, Shiroro road, Mandela road, Soje-A, Sauka-Kahuta and its environs.
The suspects led the Police team to the receivers who they sold most of the Phones to, and they are;
-Nasiru Mohammed 25yrs of Obasanjo Complex
-Suleiman Abubakar 34yrs of 123 quarters
-Baba Ahmadu 30yrs of Limawa
-Murtala Isah 32yrs of Kuta road.
While one Labaran of Obasanjo Complex who specialized in deleting IMEI number of stolen phones is presently at large. Meanwhile, twenty-one phones were recovered from the suspects.
In furtherance to the confessions of Jibrin and Usman, a follow-up investigation revealed that about ten motorcycles were stolen at different locations in Minna and five receivers of the stolen motorcycles who bought the motorcycles within the range of N80,000 to N120,000 from them were arrested at Paiko, and they are;
-Zakari Salihu 20yrs
-Sahabi Salihu 25yrs
-Bashiru Kabiru 35yrs
-Suleiman Tanko 35yrs
-Ismail Umar 26yrs
Three motorcycles were recovered; one Bajaj and two Jincheng motorcycles. However, all suspects are under investigation at the TST office, SHQ Dutsen-Kura Minna.
Meanwhile members of the public who might have been a victim have urged to visit the office to aid the investigation process.
