In a major crackdown on criminal activities in Minna, the Niger State Police Command has arrested 19 suspected miscreants involved in phone snatching, drug abuse, and other crimes. The suspects were apprehended during a sting operation led by the Area Commander, Minna, ACP Aliyu A. Rabah, in compliance with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman.
The operation, conducted on February 2, 2025, targeted black spots across Minna, including New Market/PZ, Sauka-Kahuta, Soje, and Kpakungu. During the raid, police operatives recovered dangerous weapons and exhibits, including an axe, two cutlasses, four knives, an iron rod, assorted charms, and cannabis.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Wasiu A. Abiodun, the arrested suspects, aged between 15 and 29 years, are currently under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna and will be arraigned in court soon.
In a separate development, police operatives attached to Chanchaga Division on February 1, 2025, apprehended a suspected car thief, Sunday Nelson, 45, in possession of a stolen Toyota Corolla with registration number LFA 799 ST. The vehicle was reported stolen on January 31, 2025, from the Aleo Vera area of Tunga, Minna.
Nelson was intercepted at City Gate during a routine police patrol and later confessed that he stole the vehicle with the intention of selling it in Kaduna. He is set to be arraigned in court for prosecution.
Meanwhile,the Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman,has lauded the officers for their dedication and urged them to sustain the momentum in tackling crime. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to making Niger State safer through strategic policing, community engagement, and sustained security operations.
