The Niger State Police Command, has arrested nine suspects for various crimes, including culpable homicide, armed robbery, kidnapping, office breaking, theft, and drug-related offenses in different parts of the state.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP W.A. Abiodun, the arrests were made by the Crack Squad and divisional patrol teams during intensified operations to curb criminal activities in the state.
Among those apprehended were Ibrahim Umar (33) of Maitumbi, arrested for possessing stolen Air Conditioners, an inverter, and a solar battery worth over ₦5 million. Moh’d Sani Bauche (24) and Abdulkareem Hassan (24) of Beji were caught with a stolen goat and later found to be involved in cattle rustling, armed robbery, and kidnapping with a locally made revolver gun.
Hamuza Yusuf (18) of Garatu was arrested with cannabis, illicit drugs, a knife, and scissors, which he allegedly sold on behalf of a dealer known as “Musa Rugged.” Abdulrazak Saidu (18) of Mararaba Kachia, Kaduna State was linked to a kidnapping syndicate in Kachia, where he allegedly acted as an informant for a gang led by a suspect known as “Officer.” He confessed to receiving ₦20,000 and an Android phone for his role.
Abdullahi Sahabi (24) of Kunu village, wanted for the murder of a vigilante member seven years ago, was arrested upon his return to his village after hiding in New Bussa.
On February 14, 2025, a police patrol team in Paiko arrested three individuals: Yusuf Abdulkadir (20), Godwin Adebayo (20), and Abdullahi Adamu (21) for breaking into multiple houses in Lugodna area. Recovered stolen items include a plasma television, an MP3 player, a standing fan, and foodstuffs such as melon, millet, maize, and rice.
The suspects have confessed to their crimes, and some have already been charged to court, while others remain under investigation.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman has reiterated the Command’s commitment to fighting crime and urged the public to continue providing useful information that will aid law enforcement efforts.
