Niger Power Supply: Committee Chairman Commends sub Committees , assures Nigerlites of Speedy implementation

The Chairman of the Niger state Committee on improved power Supply, Alh. Ibrahim Balarabe Kagara has commended all three sub-committees set up to fast-track immediate plans of the administration of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello for undisturbed power supply in Niger state for being prompt in their assignment.

In a statement issued in Minna by Abdullberqy U Ebbo, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe Kagara who is also Commissioner for Works in the state pledged to look into the reports of the the sub committees and come up with recommendations to support governments plans in the immediate period.

He lamented over the corrupt practices of some AEDC Staff, especially those who go outside their official schedules to extort Money from customers, under the pretext of wanting to assist them in sourcing prepaid metres, or helping them to reduce amounts they owed the body.

The Honourable Commissioner stressed the importance of metering all the houses metering being one of the essential assignments of the state committee, the commissioner explained that all houses have to be meted to ensure probity and fairness on parts of both the electricity company and the consumers.

While assuring that the current administration’s goal was to ensure day-round (24/7) power supply across the state, he noted that the general public also needed to be responsible and responsive by ensuring prompt settlements of their bills.

He equally clarified that the reports of the three sub-committees, which had been submitted, were under intense discussion and would be made public soon, noting that their purpose was to explore and consider all sides to the power generation and distribution issue in the state, an issue he said lack sufficient consideration which had been responsible for the constant and incessant darkness often envelope the communities in the state,making life barely liveable.
