The Federal Government has congratulated the Republic of Malawi on the occasion of its Independence Anniversary, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between both countries.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, conveyed Nigeria’s warm congratulations to Malawi’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Nancy Tembo, and the people of Malawi.
The minister described the anniversary as a significant milestone that reflects the resilience, unity and enduring spirit of the Malawian people in their pursuit of sovereignty, peace and sustainable development.
She noted that Nigeria joins Malawi in celebrating the historic occasion, emphasizing the two countries’ shared commitment to freedom, democratic values and regional stability.
According to the statement, Nigeria and Malawi have continued to enjoy cordial bilateral relations, underpinned by cooperation in trade, agriculture, education, capacity building and multilateral engagements.
It added that both countries work closely within the African Union, the United Nations and other international platforms to promote peace, security and sustainable development across Africa and beyond.
The minister reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties with Malawi by exploring new areas of cooperation and strengthening people-to-people exchanges for the mutual benefit of both nations.
She also conveyed Nigeria’s best wishes to the Government and people of Malawi for continued peace, prosperity and national progress as the country mark another year of independence.
