NIMC warns against unauthorized NIN modifications, launches Secure Self-Service Portal

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has cautioned Nigerians against using unauthorized websites to modify their National Identification Number (NIN) data. The Commission emphasized that all modifications should be done only through its newly launched Self-Service Modification Portal: selfservicemodification.nimc.gov.ng.

In a statement issued on March 10, 2025, NIMC’s Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Kayode Adegoke, reassured the public that the official portal is designed to protect users from identity theft and data breaches. He warned that unauthorized platforms could expose personal information to security risks.

The Self-Service Modification Portal allows citizens to update their details securely from anywhere, offering convenience and efficiency.

NIMC therefore urged Nigerians to always verify sources before submitting personal data online.

For further inquiries, individuals can visit www.nimc.gov.ng, email [email protected], or call 0700-225-564-62.

The Commission further reaffirmed its commitment to protecting national identity data and ensuring seamless services for all Nigerians.
