Ebifagha Bebenimibo, a Reservoir Engineer with NNPC E&P Limited, has been honoured with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council Chairman’s Medallion for outstanding leadership and service to the Council.
Bebenimibo received the prestigious recognition at the Dinner and Awards Night of the SPE Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition (NAICE) 2026 in Lagos.
The SPE Nigeria Council Chairman’s Medallion is conferred on selected individuals in recognition of their leadership and contributions to the Council during the board year.
Bebenimibo serve as the Council’s Student Programs Chair, where he oversees programmes for more than 14,000 students across 51 tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
In this capacity, he led this year’s students’ conference, which facilitated internship opportunities for participating students, organised field trips for more than 300 student delegates across three locations, and generated over ₦8 million in savings for the Society through effective cost management.
His achievement has been described as a demonstration of excellence, particularly in balancing the delivery of a large-scale national student programme with the demands of his technical role as a Reservoir Engineer at NNPC E&P Limited.
The recognition further highlights the importance of professional leadership, mentorship and investment in the next generation of Nigeria’s oil and gas professionals.
NNPC Limited reaffirmed its commitment to its core values of Integrity, Excellence and Sustainability, describing Bebenimibo’s achievement as an example of these values in action.
